Requirements Case Study No. 2

15th July 2015

These are requirements that we have received, with information relating to the identity of the originator removed.

Requirements received: We are looking to digitise a large part of our archives. They are quite extensive and are a continuous record of our company right back to the early 1830s. The collection will comprise photos, video, large-format plans and drawings, along with other items. Ultimately we’d be looking at tens of thousands of assets.

Requirements Case Study

As the seasons pass we do our shoots and journalists then need our current shots to run for magazines, newspapers etc … We would like to be able to give them access to our stock photography and download a copy at their leisure. We would update this approx 4 times a year with a couple of hundred shots.

We will be launching our new modern website early next year, and one of the key elements we hope to include is access to our digitised material from our archive. Currently we have about 10,000 images scanned, which will increase to around 40,000 in the next few years.

Basically, we are looking for a system that will allow public access to the photographs and they can download for either personal or commercial use for a fee. We will have a members only area of our site and we would like our members to have access to the same images as well as other documents but pay a reduced fee if they wish to purchase, and finally a group for users who are not members but can join for a fee to gain access to the same level of material as our members but without their discount.

We want a system which will allow us to make our products available to our various retailers, either by giving them logins and restricting their access to a specific group, or on an ad-hoc basis.

Requirements met: The iBase digital asset management system fulfils all of these requirements.
