Her Majesty's Courts Service
Her Majesty's Courts Service (HMCS) have chosen iBase Quartet for their internal media asset library.
Key requirements included the ability to create a multi-level keyword hierarchy; set permissions for a number of classes of user; bulk upload of images with automatic insertion of common metadata; download of images by authorised users with selection of an appropriate resolution for their purpose.
They also needed simple and advanced searching by keywords, events, dates and users who have uploaded images; and access by administrators and other users from anywhere on the network using only a browser - such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari for Mac users.Rhondda Cynon Taff Library Service
Rhondda Cynon Taff Libraries - Treorchy Library have created a digital image archive using iBase Manager and iBase Net with both Welsh and English language versions. The website allows you to browse by Area, Valley or Town and to seek out specific subjects or themes.
You will find over 20,000 digital images taken from the local history collections. There are images of people at work and at play; of buildings; places and events helping to illustrate all aspects of life in the County Borough from around 1880 to the present day.
The website is under continuous development and new images are regularly added as the digitisation programme moves ahead and new photographs are collected by the library service.
Edinburgh City Libraries
Edinburgh City Libraries have launched their online image collection at Capital Collections. At its foundatation is the feature rich browser interface iBase Net. Behind the scenes iBase Manager is used for cataloguing, indexing and publishing images and metadata to the website.
Special exhibitions on the Capital Collections site include 'The Old and New Towns of Edinburgh World Heritage', 'Edinburgh Landmarks', 'Panoramas of Edinburgh', and 'Edinburgh Castle'.
Whether you are researching your family tree or doing a school project, you can discover the historical and cultural life of Edinburgh, Scotland and the Scots through this growing image library which includes a wonderful selection of photographs, drawings, watercolours and engravings.
University College Dublin
University College Dublin now use iBase Quartet for the management of their annual Images of Research Competition. Using only standard browsers - such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari - entrants to the competition can upload their images and associated metadata, competition administrators can organise as required, and judges can view and assess the entries.
Shetland Museum and Archives
Our congratulations to Shetland Museum and Archives on the opening of their splendid new building and major upgrade to the musuem's online photographic archive, which was supplied by iBase Media Services. The new site is also hosted by iBase Media Services.
The archive has a collection of over 60,000 images showing all aspects of Shetland Life. It also contains a growing selection of images of artefacts and documents from the museums collection.
National College for School Leadership
The marketing department of the National College for School Leadership have appointed iBase Media Services as their supplier for an internal image library. They wanted to be able properly manage their growing stock of digital images, which are used in a wide variety of publications and on their website. Key requirements included - administrative control over users and access rights; powerful searching; image request and authorised download; automatic logging of image use; and - very importantly - a hosted and managed service to minimise the effort needed to add and catalogue new images. Sharron Ranby, the NCSL Marketing Co-ordinator said "....we are absolutely thrilled by the library. It's easy to use, practical and definitely what I was looking for ..."
The International Rugby Board in Dublin have commissioned iBase Media Services to supply an internal media asset management system, enabling contributors and users around the world to upload and access material under the control of the IRB's marketing department. The system chosen is iBase Quartet, a multi-media management system ideal for this purpose and which will ensure that the IRB's assets are properly catalogued and easily retrieved by authorised users.
Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and Shakespeare Birthplace Trust
A joint project by the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and Shakespeare Birthplace Trust has chosen iBase Manager and iBase Net for a major upgrade to their internal picture library, which will enable staff in both organisations to catalogue and upload images and to view the collection on their internal network.
iBase are proud to be associated with Dumfries and Galloway Council's project to create a web accessible archive of their impressive collection of images related to local history. They are using iBase Manager to create and catalogue the images. The website - which they expect to be live within a few months - will use iBase Net.
Royal Horticultural Society (RHS)
In a significant upgrade the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) have enhanced their internal picture library system, which allows internal users at RHS sites around the country to upload and catalogue their growing collection of images using iBase Manager. All RHS staff can view and request images from the iBase Net service which is deployed on their internal network.
Pexicon Digital Media Solutions
iBase is pleased to announce that it has entered into an exclusive deal with Pexicon Digital Media Solutions - based in Johannesburg - to supply iBase products in South Africa. Pexicon director Scott Sargent said "After conducting extensive research in the field of digital asset management and realizing what was available we are delighted to add iBase to our portfolio. With their past record and expertise we have no doubt the products and services offered by iBase will create great opportunity for a number of digitization projects and information sharing within South Africa"
Following the successful launch of their Lantern website - Lancashire County Council have now made their unique collection of photographs in the Fleetwood trawler archive available on the web. There are images of trawlers from Fleetwood, Grimsby, Hull and many other European ports, all accompanied by a wealth of technical information on the individual vessels and fascinating stories relating to the trawlers, the ports and the people involved in the fishing industry. The Lantern and Fleetwood Trawler databases and images are catalogued using iBase Manager, and the web sites are powered by iBase Net.
Glasgow City Libraries - Sir Thomas Lipton
Glasgow City Libraries have launched their website dedicated to the life and work of Sir Thomas Lipton, one of the city's most famous and successful sons who from humble origins became a world famous tea merchant and yachtsman. The website, which uses iBase's Net 5 system, features a large collection of images of Sir Thomas, his yachts and his friends and acquaintances, and offers a fascinating insight into late 19th century and early 20th century high society.
City of London Guildhall Library and Art Gallery
iBase Media Services have delivered major enhancements to the City of London's Collage web site and online researcher iBase systems. The collections are highly regarded for richness of content and quality of digital imaging. COLLAGE is developing into the online resource for London's history, topography and people from the 15th.
