ODBC (Open database connectivity) - a system of database access. With ODBC an interface between different applications can be created, for example between a SQL database such as Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle, and an Excel spreadsheet. Thus any ODBC compliant application can exchange information with another ODBC compliant application.
