What is iBase Trinity?
iBase Trinity is the latest version of iBase's powerful web-based digital asset display and retrieval platform and builds upon several years of continuous development in response to market requirements.
Cross-platform
iBase Trinity is browser-based and can be used from PC, Mac or Linux browsers, allowing access to your collection of assets from anywhere in the world. Supported browsers are Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 3 and Safari 4 and 5. Earlier versions are also fine in most cases.
Easy to Use
Trinity's intuitive browser interface ensures that users, even if they have limited computer experience, are shown a screen that feels familiar and enables them to perform tasks simply and easily.
Secure
Trinity offers comprehensive security for assets, data and even individual web pages, using an easy to understand system of users and roles.
Permissions can be set on individual items, types of items, or on groups of items, offering maximum flexibility in setting up access to your asset store. In addition, individual data fields can be hidden or made available to different users, allowing you to display public data, whilst protecting confidential or sensitive information.
Users can also be granted or denied access to virtually any area of Net6, including downloading, emailing or purchasing items, printing or exporting data, generating reports or performing administrative tasks.
Data Structure
-iBase Trinity has a completely configurable data structure, allowing you to create as many different item types* as you wish, each with a different set of fields. Using this structure, virtually any metadata standard may be implemented, including Dublin Core etc...

Flexible
Trinity is extremely flexible and customisable in terms of how it looks and how it behaves. The interface can be modified to fit in with your existing website if necessary and individual pages can be added, changed or removed, depending on your requirements.
Trinity also allows you to use custom templates for different item types, or even individual items, offering greater control over how assets are displayed on the web.
Media Types
Trinity allows you to import any file with a recognised MIME type, including images, videos, sound files, word documents, PDFs, CAD documents, etc. Trinity will create copies of image, video and sound files suitable for viewing and streaming over the web, whilst maintaining the original copy for archive and download purposes. Thumbnails are automatically created for viewing in gallery pages and, for video files, these can be augmented with thumb-sized streaming video.
Trinity also allows you to use custom templates for different item types, or even individual items, offering greater control over how assets are displayed on the web.
Easy Upload
Trinity builds on the experience iBase has accumulated over many years of working with asset upload via a browser interface. The upload form offers intuitive and convenient upload of batches of assets, along with any common data that you may wish to enter. Assets may be uploaded as new items or as an update to existing items.
In addition, Trinity offers a "hot folder" solution, whereby specified folders are scanned at system configurable intervals and new files imported automatically, using the specified import policy. Image metadata can be automatically mapped to their corresponding database fields at this point.
As iBase Trinity is a web-based system, direct import from devices such as digital cameras is not possible, however if the camera is connected and treated as a removable disk, files may be uploaded to Trinity from that disk in the same fashion as from any other local or networked drive.
Copies of image, video and sound files are created at the point of upload and the original safely archived for later retrieval. In addition, when uploading to an existing item, previous assets are safely archived and may be accessed at a later date by "rolling back" the latest upload.
Trinity takes full advantage of the powerful multi-item type iBase database schema and allows you to specify which item type you wish to create when uploading new assets.
Any of the fields on the upload form can be made mandatory if required and they can be set up as picklists or multiple choice fields for ease and reliability of data entry.
Note that use of the upload form requires Adobe Flash Player 9 or later.
Embedded Metadata
Embedded EXIF, IPTC and XMP metadata can be mapped from image files to any required data field in Trinity. Metadata mapping for other file types is in development and will available in a future release.

Searching
Trinity provides a number of powerful ways of searching your collection, including a flexible quick search, powerful advanced search, hierarchical keyword search and the ability to iteratively refine your search results.
Trinity also supports "did you mean" suggestions for terms which return no results, "more like this" searching to find similar items, and the ability to specify the "fuzziness" of the searching.
A report on searches carried out is available, which includes the number of items returned, when the searches were performed and which users carried them out - invaluable for identifying popular terms or gaps in your collection.
Viewing
Trinity provides a simple all in one page which allows you to view an asset's metadata, display streaming media, view item relationships, select items for saving into light-boxes, upload or download files, edit metadata or set user permissions.
Editing
Trinity allows those users with the appropriate permissions to edit metadata using the simple and intuitive browser interface. Trinity's ever-expanding feature list for editing includes a sophisticated batch edit facility, which allows users to search and replace, insert, append or remove text across a set of records.
In addition, iBase Trinity supports a uni-hierarchical subject tree which allows for the implementation of multiple controlled vocabularies. For users with more complex requirements, metadata can be edited using the powerful iBase Manager product .
Audit Trail
Trinity includes a powerful and configurable audit trail which allows you to capture successful and unsuccessful operations such as editing data, viewing web pages, downloading files, or purchasing or ordering assets. This audit trail can be viewed using Trinity's own report generator.
Reporting
Reporting within Trinity can be carried out with it's own report generator, which is capable of outputting HTML, text, or PDF format reports. Any of the data within Trinity can be reported on and it comes with a number of standard popular reports out of the box. Further reports can be configured by iBase at your request.
Printing
Trinity allows you to print assets and data in a variety of formats, including contact sheets, gallery views and detailed prints. A number of standard print formats come with Net6 out of the box and additional formats can be created by iBase upon request.
Downloading / Exporting
Assets can be downloaded or exported from Trinity by using the powerful export facility. This uses the concept of export policies to define the format, size and quality of the file to be generated and assets can be watermarked if required. You can create as many export policies as you wish and users can select the policy they need at the point of export. Exported files can be named according to a data field which you can specify.
Ordering & E-commerce
Trinity has an extremely flexible ordering module, which can be tailored to your specific requirements. These may range from a simple "image request" system, through to full e-commerce, with credit card authorisation or on-account payment, and digital fulfilment. Order information can be exported for use within a third-party accounts or inventory system if required. Users also have full access to their order history.
A system manager can create as required -
- - Media types e.g. digital, print etc...
- - Media sizes e.g. digital file sizes, print sizes etc...
- - Types of use e.g. commercial, personal, educational etc...
- - Delivery options e.g. e-mail, download, mail etc...
- - A pricing structure for each of these options independently.
- - A separate tax code, or none, for every country.
